2025 SIA Two-Day Refresher Training for Level 2 Door Supervision
What’s in the Course?
SIA Licence Qualification Updates and 2025 Refresher Training The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has recently revised the qualification requirements for maintaining an SIA licence. In response, SJA Training Services is proud to introduce a comprehensive Refresher Training Programme tailored specifically for door supervisors and security guards. This initiative aligns with the latest regulatory updates following a detailed review of licence-linked qualifications.
Launching January 2025: Mandatory Refresher Training for Licence Renewal
Effective January 2025, all door supervisors and security guards must complete this Refresher Training prior to renewing their SIA licences. The updated programme ensures that existing licence holders maintain the same foundational skills and knowledge as new entrants, thereby enhancing their effectiveness and professionalism within the private security sector.
Key Enhancements to the Refresher Training
- Search Procedures: Mastering effective and lawful search techniques.
- Vulnerable Person Protection: Implementing strategies to safeguard vulnerable individuals.
- Terror Threat Awareness: Understanding the critical role of security personnel during terror-related incidents.
- Incident Management: Best practices for managing public safety in incidents such as spiking.
- Physical Interventions: Comprehensive understanding of the appropriate use and legal implications of physical interventions in security contexts.
Flexible Training Delivery Options
- Fully Face-to-Face: 21 hours delivered over 2 days.
- Blended Learning with ACT Awareness & Security: 19 hours and 20 minutes over 2 days.
- Blended Learning with ACT Awareness, Security & QNUK Workbook: 11 hours and 15 minutes over 1.5 days.
Mandatory First Aid Component
In accordance with SIA requirements, all learners must hold a valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid qualification. Training includes assessment in catastrophic bleeding management. Until 1 April 2025, any regulated Emergency First Aid at Work qualification covering this component will be accepted. Beyond this date, only specific qualifications meeting the Manchester Arena Inquiry recommendations will be recognised.
Certification
Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded the QNUK Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Refresher) (RQF). This certification confirms that door supervisors are fully compliant with the latest industry standards and best practices.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement
SJA Training Services has launched a public consultation to gather valuable feedback on the Refresher Training programme. This collaborative approach ensures ongoing refinement of course content to better serve the evolving needs of SIA-licensed door supervisors and security guards.
